VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
DOVE Center is urgently looking for volunteers for the Hospital Advocacy Response Team (HART). Members of HART respond to sexual assaults and cases of domestic violence that have been reported at St George Regional Hospital. The primary purpose of HART volunteers is to support and advocate for the survivor during their time at the hospital.
To become a HART volunteer, individuals must pass a background check and take the Utah Coalition Against Sexual Assault 40 hour advocacy training. The next available virtual UCASA trainings are February 27th-March 11th; April 3rd-April 15th; and June 12th-June 15th (hybrid).

Volunteering
In order to provide the many services that are needed to bring hope and healing to survivors, we rely on the kind assistance of community volunteers.
DOVE Center works to provide a wide variety of worthwhile volunteer opportunities for community members. We strive to do this by discovering volunteers’ interests, time availability, and skills, and appropriately place each one in a well-matched volunteer position. As a result, we hope to build a network of DOVE Center friends and advocates across the community. We’d love to hear from you if you’re interested in volunteering.
Volunteer Requirements
To become a volunteer you must be at least 18 years old, complete our Volunteer Application, and meet with the Volunteer Coordinator. All volunteers are required to complete an orientation and at least eight hours of basic training on the topics of domestic violence and sexual assault. Volunteers who will work directly with clients and/or sensitive information, are required to pass a criminal background screening and further paperwork. Each volunteer opportunity will require specialized training. Hospital advocates are also required to complete an additional 40 hours of training for specialized instruction on victim advocacy.
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers support DOVE Center in a variety of ways including administrative support, shelter assistance, fundraising efforts, community events and outreach, prevention education, and direct client advocacy. Additionally, we would love to utilize your specialized skills. Some volunteer opportunities are described below.
- Community Engagement and Awareness: This team helps raise awareness of DOVE Center and our services by participating in community-based events such as farmers markets and health fairs. Volunteers provide information about our services and related topics such as warning signs of abuse, bystander intervention, and prevention.
- Outreach Center Support: Help out by answering phones, greeting clients, receiving donations, and assisting staff with various projects.
- DOVE House Support: Assist at the shelter by answering the helpline, assisting case managers and resident advocates, and providing general support to families residing in shelter.
- Hospital Advocate Response Team (HART): Hospital advocates provide one-on-one support for rape, sexual assault, and domestic violence victims at the hospital. Advocates receive specialized training to assist victims with emotional support, after-care resources, clothing, and other essential items before they leave the hospital. Hospital advocates also assist with crime victim reparations applications. Hospital advocates are on-call for 12- 24 hours, three or more times a month.
- Other possibilities include: public education, serving on our Board of Trustees, or Board committees working on marketing, communication, development and fundraising, gala preparations, among others.
