Purple Purse Challenge – October

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and to support victims, survivors and advocates everywhere, DOVE Center is driving this month-long fundraiser that also builds awareness and support for DOVE’s victim advocacy and financial empowerment programs.
Why the purple purse, you ask? Purple is the color of Domestic Violence Awareness and the purse represents financial independence for survivors. The number one reason people stay in violent relationships is because they are financially dependent on their abusers. It’s not as simple as, ‘Why don’t you just leave?’ This awareness campaign is all about raising money to provide resources that help victims safely leave abuse and become financially independent, so they can be #FreeToWalk.
The money raised for DOVE Center through this online fundraiser goes directly to our organization, where it will be put to work providing resources and education that alleviate some of the financial burdens experienced by survivors of domestic abuse; resources like emergency shelter, counseling, and transitional housing.
You can help by donating through this link, or by joining our team. When you become a team member, you’ll help raise money for DOVE, and in the process make a difference in the community of southern Utah, and in the lives of your friends and family.
Thanks so much for your support!
