Community Awareness Education

DOVE Center provides a variety of educational seminars free of charge to community, civic, and religious groups. We cover the basics of domestic violence and sexual assault; provide information to dispel dangerous myths, including victim blaming myths; and talk about our services, how to get help, how to get involved, and some healthy relationship basics as well.

Additional educational opportunities are available by request for business owners or administrators, medical providers, community partners, and faith-based leaders. To request an educational presentation or for more information, please email [email protected].

Youth Prevention Education

DOVE Center provides evidence-based prevention education to middle and high school students throughout the local school district and at Utah Tech University. The class, titled Healthy Relationships, teaches students about the warning signs of abuse, personal boundaries, how to help themselves or a friend, and how to be an effective bystander. This curriculum can be adapted for any audience.

Domestic Violence

Domestic violence occurs in homes throughout every community. It knows no boundaries of color, gender, age, socioeconomic status, or sexual orientation.

Sexual Assault and Rape

Sexual assault occurs any time a person is forced, coerced, and/or manipulated into unwanted sexual contact or behavior without explicit consent, whether attempted or completed.

Upcoming Trainings

The professionalism and expertise of sexual assault advocates are essential to maintaining clients’ privacy. The Utah Confidential Communications Act requires that sexual assault advocates have forty hours of sexual assault specific advocacy training.

Dating Violence Awareness

DOVE Center provides educational seminars to teenagers at area middle and high schools, as well as at Utah Tech University. The seminar addresses warning signs of abuse, where and how to get help if you’re in an abusive dating relationship, important statistics, and educational resources.

Effects of Violence on Children

Children who live in homes with domestic violence can be deeply affected by the emotional, verbal and physical abuse they have witnessed and experience resulting symptoms of trauma.
