Research over the past decade estimates 1 in 3 females have experienced some form of intimate partner abuse; and girls and women between the ages of 16 and 24 experience the highest rates of intimate partner violence (www.loveisrespect.org). We are not immune to such statistics here in Utah. As reported by the Utah Health Department, females in Utah are 10 times more likely than males to die from a Domestic Violence (DV) related homicide than other types of homicide; and DV-related homicides in Utah account for 70.3% of all female homicides (2003-2008).
