Join DOVE in Expanding our Housing Services
DOVE Center provides a housing program in the form of a more complete continuum of care and empowers survivors on their way to self sufficiency. This program allows for a little extra time to get back on their feet financially, “practice” independent living in their own apartment, and maintain contact with their advocate as they continue their healing journey.
The need for DOVE’s services has increased as our population here continues to grow. It’s also important to recognize that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men in Utah will experience domestic violence in their lifetime. All of these factors have led us to a place where we have to increase our bed capacity in order to effectively serve the community. In Utah, 96% of all unmet requests for domestic violence services are for housing advocacy. In the last year in 2023, DOVE was unable to provide safe housing for 45 individuals that we in need, and instead had to send them to other resources. This statistic told us that the need for our services are growing, and that we needed to take a risk to create change.
In Utah, 96% of all unmet requests for domestic violence services are for housing advocacy, therefore DOVE recently purchased a house! Brave individuals come to DOVE in search of refuge. Last year in 2023, DOVE outsourced resources for 47 individuals. This statistic told us that the need for our services are growing with the counties we service.
